What is Form I-9?
Form I-9 is designed by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service. The form is called the Employment Eligibility Verification. The form must be filled out by the employers and employees. Both citizens and non-citizens may file this form. It is divided into three respective sections.
What is the Purpose of Form I-9?
The document must be completed by the employees to verify the identification of the hired employees. Each new employee must be verified with a help of this form. Also, the form is completed to document the employment authorization of the individuals in a certain state organization.
When is Form I-9 Due?
The form remains valid right from the date the employee was hired and till the date of the employment termination.
Is Form I-9 Accompanied by Other Documents?
If you need additional space for providing the information, you may attach some sheets and write what you need there. There are no special documents or copies that must be attached to the Employment Eligibility Verification Form.
What Information do I Provide in Form I-9?
The form has three sections. Each one is devoted to some information. Section 1 is aimed at the employees. Include the following information in this section: full name, full address, date of birth, social security number, e-mail address and telephone number, signature and the date of completing. Section 2 is called the Employer or Authorized Representative Review and Verification. It must be filled by the employer. Provide the document title, issuing authority, document number and the expiration date and any additional information. And the last section is called the Reverification and Rehires. Indicate new name, date of hire, document title and number and the expiration date.
Where do I Send Form I-9?
Never forward the document to the USCIS. The completed form must be saved in the company or organization the employer works.
